Twelve members of the U.S. Congress sent a letter to Formula 1 owner Liberty Media on Wednesday demanding answers for why it is excluding Andretti Global from the sport, giving the American team powerful new allies in its bid to enter F1. "Our team, Andretti Global, is part of every major racing discipline in the world. Last fall Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, accepted the racing team's push to join the grid, saying it met the criteria. Because we have an obligation to protect the American consumer, to protect American companies, and that is our first allegiance. The move marks an earthquake for F1 as Newey is widely regarded as the greatest car designer in the sport.

CNN —Max Verstappen is racing “on another planet,” according to Red Bull team manager Christian Horner, after the three-time world champion dominated a crash-filled Chinese Grand Prix to record yet another victory. “His form is absolutely fantastic,” Horner told broadcaster Sky Sports. His dominance is such that he finishes every Grand Prix with a comfortable buffer; on Sunday, he crossed the finish line almost 14 seconds ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris in second who recorded his 15th career podium. Mark Thompson/Getty ImagesVerstappen had led for almost the entire race, staying clear of the chaos behind him which included a Virtual Safety Car that turned into a full Safety Car prompted by Kick Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas’ engine failure and problems removing his car from the track. Just before the restart, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll drove into the back of RB’s Daniel Ricciardo prompting another Safety Car and shaking up the race even further.

CNN —Carlos Sainz claimed an impressive victory at the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, breaking Max Verstappen’s dominant grip over this F1 season as the Red Bull driver was forced to retire from the race. The Spaniard began the race second on the grid, behind pole-sitter Verstappen, and stuck close to the three-time world champion before easily overtaking him on the second lap to take the lead. For just the first time in two years, he retired from a Grand Prix, citing brake failure. Of course you always want to finish the races but it’s a mechanical sport,” Verstappen said following his first retirement since the 2022 Australian Grand Prix. It's shifting dollars away from its flagship brand, Boston Lager, to the non-alcoholic category, she added. Alcohol drinkers are opting for non-alcoholic beers on more occasions, such as at lunchtime or as a "chaser" between alcoholic drinks on a night out, experts said. Better margins, newer opportunitiesWhile non-alcoholic beers still only represent a small proportion of the total amount of beer sold, brewers can sell non-alcoholic beers at a higher margin, because they are often priced at a premium and avoid excise duty. The deal, announced earlier this year and which makes AB InBev a Worldwide Olympic Partner through to Los Angeles in 2028, marks the first time a beer brand has sponsored the Games. "This is an opportunity to strengthen beer as a category and as the category of moderation," said AB InBev CMO Marcel Marcondes.

For Mercedes, it is a devastating loss, unable to retain a generational talent and the face of its entire motorsport brand. He has been so successful with Mercedes that it’s almost hard to imagine the 39-year-old Briton racing for any other team. Red Bull will hope to defend their titles in 2024, when there will be a record 24 races, with an even better car. "This car is going to go down in the history books as a very, very special car," Horner said of the RB19. Sergio Perez was eclipsed by his team mate, with plenty of speculation about his Red Bull future earlier in the year, yet still finished overall runner-up. "There is a Mount Everest to climb in order to catch up with Red Bull," Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff told reporters on Sunday. Despite their dominance, Red Bull took 'only' 14 poles from 22 races.

CNN —And so the curtain falls on a Formula One season dominated by Max Verstappen and his Red Bull team, with the Dutchman securing a record-extending 19th victory of the year at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Never before has the sport seen a driver win with such regularity and ease, the three-time world champion again comfortably crossing the finishing line first at the season-ending race at the Yas Marina Circuit. Verstappen led from start to finish to secure his fourth win on the trot in Abu Dhabi. “It was an incredible season,” Verstappen told reporters. At one point, it seemed probable rather than possible that the team would win every race of the season, an outcome that faded away when Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz won the Singapore Grand Prix.
